LITHUANIAN
couple get married in Portpatrick
Rasa
and Andrius Tapinas decided to get married in Portpatrick
- after seeing it featured on the world wide web.
The
pair, both television journalists from the country's capital
Vilnius, were aided in their quest to choose a wedding destination
by the pictures on the Small Towns Initiative website at www.stranraer.org.
And Jean Ross, recently appointed Projects Officer for the
STI, was delighted when they called in at Portpatrick Events
Office dressed in their wedding clothes and asked for directions
to a castle suitable for taking their wedding pictures.
Said
Andrius
"We
had always wanted to marry in Scotland. On the Stranraer
website we saw a beautiful image of Portpatrick with its
harbour and decided to come to this beautiful village".
As
some souvenir snaps were taken outside the events office,
several local people joined in a toast to the bride and groom.
After
such a warm reception, the couple say they may return to Portpatrick
next year - to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
