Hunt
for Bogus-Caller
POLICE
want to find a bogus-caller who faked her way into a number
of Stranraer houses on Monday claiming to be a Council Tax
representative.
The
fraudster, aged between 20 and 25, is said to have stolen
purses, cash and bank cards after gaining entry to at least
two homes in the Dick's Hill area of the town between 1.15
p.m. and 2.45 p.m.
A
police spokesman said
"The
female stated that she was making inquiries about housing
and benefits issues.
But
once entry had been gained to the houses, various items
have been stolen.
"Inquiries
with the relevant department reveal that the council did
not have officers working in the Dick's Hill area at the
time of the incidents".
The
female is described as white, aged between 20 and 25 of a
slim to medium-build and with mousey brown hair.
At
the time of the incidents she was wearing a beige- coloured
jacket and brown checked scarf.
Police
are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
