Cows Stampede!

A HERD of around 20 cows stampeded through part of Stranraer late on Sunday night.

And at least one car sustained damage running into hundreds of pounds as a wing mirror was ripped off and body panels damaged. Police were alerted when the animals were seen grazing opposite the Thorneycroft Old People's Home on the edge of the town.

But after the cows were thought to have been startled, they made their way along Coronation Drive, Fairhurst Road, Knockcullie Road and Belmont Road before they were returned safely to their field.
