Curlers
Resurrected
A
TEAM of former European Championship curlers from Stranraer
has been resurrected to represent a 'rest of the world' select
against North America.
Hammy
McMillan will take his team, made up of Stranraer men Roger
McIntyre, Norman Brown and Hugh Aitken all of whom are previous
Euro-pean champions to next month's inaugural Continental
Cup in Regina, Canada.
And
although the four have never won an international honour together,
five-times European champion Hammy is confident that they
have the experience to make their mark on the tournament which
he describes as curling's version of golf's Ryder Cup.
Hammy,
who was furious after being dropped from Team McMillan who
represented Britain at this year's Winter Olympics, said in
March he was going to concentrate on building a team around
local players whom he could trust.
Now
he has done just that. Looking forward to the new three-day
tournament which begins on 7th November, Hammy said
"It
is an honour to be asked to skip this team in the first-ever
Continental Cup".
