Golfing Breakthrough
RHINS
GOLFER Euan Little is on the threshold of life in the big
league. For at his seventh attempt, Euan has gained the coveted
European Tour Card.
And
as he told the Free Press after he arrived home last
week:
"This
year I was competing for on average £9000 a week.
Next year I will be competing for £1.4 million to
£1.5 million a week".
Life
has been tough for Euan, a member of Portpatrick Golf Club,
whose family home is at Mahaar, Inch, since he attended a
Texas College on a golfing scholarship and then turned full-time
golfing pro.
"My
parents have been almost my sole providers other than a
few individuals locally and Portpatrick Golf Club",
he said.
"But
now I know my luck has changed".
His
big breakthrough came at the European Tour qualifying school
at Emporda Golf Club on Spain's Costa Brava where he emerged
from a six-round marathon with a card for next season¹s
Volvo circuit.
He
posted a final round two under par 69 for an 18-under aggregate
of 410 to quality comfortably in 11th place. As well as his
card he banked £2400.
