Guinea Pig Owner
FRANTIC
guinea pig owner James Mills had to call in the experts -
after his randy rodents threatened to breed out of control.
James
(37) of Mount Vernon Drive, Stranraer, called in the inspectors
after looking at the animals and saying "Guinea no dae
that!"
At
one point 27 of the female guinea pigs were pregnant. And,
when animal inspectors arrived last week, the animals numbered
a staggering 77.
It
could have been worse, however, with experts claiming that
if he had left it a week later, James would have had over
200 of the rampant rodents.
James
told the "Free Press" "We just could not cope.
It got a bit much for us and I called in the Scottish Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals".
His
collection now numbers a much more manageable three - ginger
Collette, tufty Donna and plain old Christopher.
James
added
"We
miss the others now and are going to get a photo of them
in their new home. But we know it is for the best because
we did not want anything to happen to them and the most
important thing is the animals' welfare".
He
added
"They
get pregnant very, very quickly!"
