Rugby Stars in Kilts

TWENTY-SEVEN extremely burly French rugby stars will be backing their international team against Scotland at Murrayfield in March — dressed in kilts hired in Stranraer.

At the moment they have yet to decide whether to wear Scotland’s national tartan, or Pride of Scotland.

But whatever they choose, Douglas Hannah, owner of Galloway Kilt Hire, will be at Prestwick Airport to help them to dress and see them on their way to Edinburgh.

According to Dougie, the decision by Frenchmen to wear Scotland’s national garb while rooting for their own team is all to do with the Auld Alliance that once cemented relationships between the two countries.

Behind the venture is Martina Nouet, a French journalist who normally writes about whisky.

She is organising the outing with guests from the ranks of past, present and the future French rugby greats.

Martina is no stranger to Galloway, having ordered quantities of cheese and pate from the area over the internet.
