Stagecoach Manager Awarded MBE

LOCAL TRANSPORT STALWART Jim Thomson made a very special journey of his own last week.

The proud Stranraer depot manager for bus company Stagecoach travelled to Buckingham Palace to collect his MBE from The Queen.

Jim, who was awarded his MBE in The Queen's Birthday Honours List back in June, said

"It was beautiful a thing I will never forget!

"The Queen asked me about my service; how long I had worked for the company and what it had been like.

She is quite small, but very pleasant!

"Stagecoach did us proud. They laid everything on for us, including a two-day stay at the Hilton in Central London.

"The whole experience was just great and I would say it is definitely something that is worth working towards."
