MILITARY Test Ranges Expected to Close

MILITARY test ranges at West Freugh are expected to close by 1st April, next year, the "Free Press" understands.

An announcement on the future of test and evaluation ranges throughout the United Kingdom was expected in the House of Commons yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon. Back in May, sources at West Freugh told the "Free Press" how they feared the worst after a dramatic down-turn in activity at the testing ranges in and around Luce Bay.

This week a source added

"Some workers here have been told that their jobs are safe until 31st March next year.

"But there are so many rumours flying around. Morale is so low and there is so much unhappiness at the base".
