Stopping Incidents
FEARS
have been voiced over the future of Stranraer's Shows after
a series of incidents between staff and local youths.
The
Shows, or traditional October Amusements Fair, have been coming
to the town's Breastwork area for well over a century. This
year's run comes to an end on Saturday and the fear is that
they may not come back after trouble with locals has escalated
over the last couple of years.
Last
week, one fair worker was the victim of a bottle attack and
there have been a number of other incidents. This has led
to one senior police officer telling local councillors that
if trouble continues the fair "might not come back".
Staff
at the Shows this week played down the incidents.
