Tourism
is Recovering
TOURISM
in Wigtownshire is recovering after the disastrous downturn
last year caused by the foot-and-mouth epidemic.
That
is the general feeling of the holiday trade who have reported
a refreshing upturn in business over Easter compared to the
summer months.
And
Tourist Board officials have confirmed that the region's second
largest industry is indeed recording better results than not
just last year, but the pre-foot-and-mouth years too.
However,
traders are also agreed that foreign visitors remain conspicuous
by their absence.
Caravan
parks and bed-and-breakfasts the length of The Machars and
The Rhins were pleased to tell the "Free Press"
this week that they had been "flat-out" over the
Easter weekend.
