BAKING TROPHY FOR STRANRAER GIRL KATHLEEN
Eaglesham has just won a prestigious baking trophy and
she is
just 12.
Stranraer
Academy pupil Kathleen,
is following in the footsteps of her granny Mrs May McCulloch
and her mum
Hazel who are previous winners.
Last
year she was just pipped at the post, as baking runner-up
in the
homecraft section at Stranraer Show.
Kathleen,
who wants to become a Home Economics teacher, began her
interest
in baking by watching her mother. But her career really took
off when her aunt Aileen McCulloch bought her a
child's recipe book for her birthday two years ago.
"I
bake almost every weekend", Kathleen told the Free
Press after her win.
To
collect enough points to win the trophy, Kathleen's
efforts won her 12
firsts, five seconds and two thirds.
To
prepare, she began the weekend before the show, although
the night before
she was busy getting her plain baking just right. |
