Cairnyran Petition Against Speeding
CAIRNRYAN RESIDENTS, angry at speeding through their
village, have signed a
petition demanding action.
And on Monday, Galloway MP Peter
Duncan went to Stranraer police station to
hand it over to Chief Inspector Mike Leslie.
The petition,
signed by the majority of people living in the Cairn,
calls on the police and Dumfries and Galloway
Council, to clamp down on the problem.
Mr Duncan said:
"Speeding traffic is a real quality
of life issue for many
of my constituents but Cairnryan village is one of
those communities most
severely affected.
" The danger to local people is, sadly, increasing
and a spate of accidents
over the years has done nothing to deter those who
continue to break the
law".
