£1000 Reward for a Phone Call
WHEN Stranraer businessman Alan McKenzie answered his
phone a couple of
weeks ago he never thought the call would cost him £1000.
But
the owner of McKenzies' electrical store was only
too happy to part with
the money. Because at the other end of the line was Englishman
Mark Duerden reporting
that he had found Alan's Ford Transit van - which
had been stolen from
outside his Stranraer shop three weeks earlier.
And if Alan
was surprised with the news, Mark was nothing short of
ecstatic
when he discovered his display of good citizenship had
earned him a £1000
reward.
"That should take care of Christmas!" remarked
the 40-year-old landscape
gardener from Burnley.
Mark genuinely knew nothing of the
reward that had been put up for the
recovery of the six-month old van.
