Academy Rebuild Delayed
TIMESCALES for the second phase of Stranraer Academy
rebuild have been put
back again, much to the bemusement of school staff.
Council
officials now admit they can't commit themselves
to starting the
work next year. They say it is more likely to be 2005 before
the first brick
is laid.
Although the Scottish Executive input towards the
Schools' PPP
programme is
still on the table, the council have had to rework the
whole school estate
review.
That is because a number of primary schools earmarked
for closure are now to
remain open after consultations.
The Academy School Board
were informed of the delay at their meeting on
Tuesday.
