Unique Double for Academy
TWO teachers at Stranraer Academy achieved a unique double
for the school
last week when they both passed the Scottish Qualification
for Headship
programme.
Depute rectors Emma Neil and Mike Warren were
two of 151 teachers from
across Scotland to pass the intensive training programme,
which prepares
teachers for becoming head teachers.
And of all the teachers
from Dumfries and Galloway who sat the course, Ms
Neil and Mr Warren are the only two from the same school
to actually achieve
the mark.
Mr Warren, who teaches maths at the school, said:
"It's
very unusual to have
two teachers from the same school achieving this so
it is good news for the
Academy.
"It was a testing course but a very worthwhile
one which is designed for
people aiming to become head teachers."
The two teachers
both sat the course at Stirling University and were
presented with their awards by Education Minister Peter
Peacock last
Saturday.
