New Hospital Costs
STRANRAER'S
new hospital will cost £3.2 million more than first
anticipated.
The
news came this week as a revised business case went before
NHS chiefs at a meeting in the town. The report now goes to
the Scottish Executive for approval.
The
town's new integrated health facility could now be open by
late 2005. Originally, the idea was to refurbish the town's
existing Dalrymple Hospital in addition to constructing a
new building.
But
designers overlooked the true cost of upgrading the Dalrymple
and that plan had to be scrapped. Instead, the revised design
proposes a complete new hospital and demolition of the Dalrymple.
The
changes increase the cost of the project from £6.5 million
to £9.7 million.
