SAHARA SAND MARATHON
A
FORMER Stranraer man has raised £1743 for charity
after an epic race
across the Sahara Desert.
Back in March, the Free Press reported
how Wilson Browne was preparing to
run Africa's Marathon Des Sable.
The race, which translates
into English as the Sand Marathon, sees
competitors run 150 miles in just six days, in temperatures
even higher
than those experienced during this week's UK heatwave.
Fitness
fan Wilson duly completed the race, however, and this week
passed on
the money he raised to Cancer Research.
Wilson (26) now
stays in London but grew up in Stranraer, attending Rephad
Primary and Stranraer Academy.
He praised Free Press readers
who supported his charity effort, saying:
"I
want to say a big thank you to all who supported me on
my run across the
Sahara. Many thanks especially to those of you who gave
a donation." |
