Police Combat Revellers

POLICE in Stranraer have declared war on late-night revellers who cause trouble.

Five people were arrested in a number of incidents which occurred over a three-hour period early on Sunday morning, the most serious outside The Venue in Rose Street and they are being reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Increased police presence on the streets and full use of CCTV cameras to discover who is to blame will be part of the armoury used to combat trouble.

A police spokesman told the Free Press this week:

"We are aware there has been a disorder problem outside licensed premises at weekends.

"Now we are trying to reduce it, if not trying to stamp it out altogether".
