PUPILS UNDERWEAR WARNING PUPILS at Stranraer Academy have been warned about the
amount of exotic
underwear on show at the school.
But
teachers have denied rumours that coloured thongs have
been officially
banned, saying such a move would be impossible to enforce.
Pupils and parents contacted the Free Press this week,
saying they had
been told that girls at the school must only wear black or
white underwear.
One
pupil, who asked not to be named, said:
"A
lot of the girls are wearing
thongs now.
"Three
girls were taken out of class last week and spoken to
about what they
were wearing. We have all been told about cleavage too.
"In
fact, we were told that the three Bs - breasts, bellies
and bums - are
out.
"And
we have been told about underwear. It has to be either
black or white.
Some of the girls have been wearing bright thongs in
colours like orange or
red. We have been told that is not on."
Another female student
said:
"We
have been told not to wear fluorescent
thongs. It has to be black or white.
"We
were told that some of the male teachers were feeling
a bit
uncomfortable with the situation."
The issue is understood
to have been mentioned at senior assembly last week,
although teachers deny issuing an outright ban on coloured
underwear.
Stranraer Academy rector Jimmy Higgins said:
"There
were a couple of girls
wearing very low cut trousers and showing their midriff.
They were spoken to
about that".
