Wind Farm Plans

PLANS have been revealed for a wind farm near New Luce. Behind the proposed development are Scottish and Southern Energy. The Galloway and Upper Nithsdale MP Peter Duncan has this week given the proposals a cautious welcome, although he stressed the need for consultation on the plans.

He said: "The success of the wind power development at Windy Standard has shown what can be done to generate green energy in a manner that minimises visual impact and reduces any detrimental effect on tourism.

"I have received a briefing from Scottish and Southern Energy on their proposed new site and am pleased to give it a cautious welcome.

"What they must do however is be much more specific on potential visual impact and reassure local communities that the effect of the development will not be to force a visual scar on to our precious Galloway landscape".
