Police Raid Nets Heroin Worth £11,000
A POLICE raid of a flat in Stranraer's Hanover Street
last week resulted in the arrest of two men and seizure
of £11,000 of heroin.
One man, 30, has been detained in custody and appeared
in Stranraer Sheriff Court last Wednesday, while the other,
31, was bailed and is due to appear on 4 August.
Officers found the drugs after a search of the flat, and
were assisted by the police Public Order team.
Detective Inspector Alan Macleod, of the force's Crime
Management Services, said:
"These detentions show
the effectiveness of our work to prevent dealers gaining
a hold again in Stranraer.
"Our commitment of resources to Operation Emperor
succeeded in drastically reducing the availability of
illegal drugs.
"We were helped throughout that whole period by
the information coming from local people who were sickened
by the effect which drugs use was having on their communities.
"I am appealing to anyone who has any information
about drugs to share it with the police. We need intelligence
about dealers and dealing as much as we ever did to keep
Stranraer free of drugs".
