Christmas Tree has Shaky Start
THIS year's Christmas tree on Stranraer's Castle
Green has experienced a
shaky start. High winds last week caused one of the wedges
which hold it in place to
slip, leaving the tree looking distinctly lop-sided.
The council's sub-contractors tried to fix the problem
on Saturday
afternoon, but were unable to because of entertainment
taking place nearby.
To top it all, the tree also had its
lights pulled down.
But a spokesman for Combined Services
said the tree presented no danger to
the public and the problems would be ironed out before
the end of the week. She said:
"We are checking the
tree every day and there is certainly no
danger of it falling there are other wedges to
hold it in place until the
problem is fixed."
