MBE Surprise for Mrs Collins
A STRANRAER woman has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's
Birthday Honours.
Harriet Allan Collins, formerly chaiman
of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in
Wigtown, was honoured for services to the community in
Stranraer.
While Mrs Collins had heard that her name was
put forward for the award,
she did not know that she had officially been honoured
until she read her
morning newspaper. She said:
"I only found out when
I read the Glasgow Herald on Saturday
morning. My reaction was one of sheer amazement.
"It is very
humbling and I have been absolutely overwhelmed by
the congratulations and good wishes from people.
"I could not
have achieved this without the constant support and
encouragement from my husband though. He has always
been there for me."
