Rail Service Frustration
RAIL services in Wigtownshire were brought to a standstill
on Monday morning
when the signal box at Barrhill was left unattended.
Passengers on the 7.09 am service from Stranraer to Glasgow
were left
frustrated after their train came to a halt shortly before
7.30 am when the
driver discovered the signal box was closed.
The double carriage service about-turned and was brought
back to Stranraer
while a signalman was sought.
The 07.13 am service from
Glasgow to Stranraer was delayed for an hour at
Girvan.
Railway operators ScotRail arranged for buses to
transport their passengers
heading north. A spokesman said:
"There was a problem
with the signal-box at
Barrhill which, for some reason, had not been opened
first thing this
morning."
