Forster Confiscation Proceedings Begin
DISGRACED lawyer Kennedy Forster was the subject of court
action again this
week as
the Crown began confiscation proceedings under the proceeds
of crime
legislation.
The former Stranraer-based lawyer and Honorary
Sheriff is the subject of an
action to claw back assets he procured using money which
can be linked to
his fraudulent past.
In March the 54-year-old was sentenced
to six-and-a-half years imprisonment
for embezzling more than £660,000 from his unsuspecting
clients, mostly in
Stranraer and district.
Monday's scheduled hearing
at the Court of Session in Edinburgh was put off
until Wednesday, 20th October.
It was the first of a number
of appearances which, the Crown hope, will lead
to the recovery of assets Forster gained using money he
illegally obtained.
Prosecutors outlined the assets they wished to claw back
in a letter to
Forster before he was locked-up. A spokesman for the
Crown Office said:
"The process
of confiscating his
assets is now underway but we have to be realistic
in what assets we target. Those assets are not yet in
the public
domain."
