Lidl Plan Larger Store
JUST five years after opening in Stranraer, Lidl plan
to build a new
discount foodstore, bigger than their existing building.
The
German-based company have applied for planning permission
to demolish
their present store and replace it with one of their larger-sized
buildings
with extra car parking.
Plans lodged with Dumfries and Galloway
Council show that the new store will
be built on the site of the derelict Stranraer Dairies
buildings.
It will provide 1626 square metres of floor space
of which 1286 square
metres will be the sales area.
According to Hargest and
Wallace Planning, who have accompanied plans and
drawings of the development with a an executive summary
"The purpose of the
proposed redevelopment is to improve customer comfort
within the store.
"No extra lines will be introduced and the same
products will be sold."
It added:
"The proposed
development will provide an enhanced retail facility
for the benefit of residents in Stranraer and the surrounding
rural area.
"Customer comfort will be improved."
The Stranraer
store is one of 57 in Scotland and 400 throughout Britain.
