Sandboxes for Sheuchan Primary
ON THEIR return to school, youngsters at Sheuchan Primary
School, Stranraer,
were delighted to find two large sandboxes in the playground.
These
were designed and built by Dick's Hill Furniture
Project workers.
The boxes were filled with sand, gravel
and pebbles to provide different textures to stimulate
sensory awareness.
An assortment of tools was provided to encourage the
children to engage
in different types of physical
activities, building muscle tone an promoting general fitness.
The
project was funded by a grant from Wigtown West Area
Committee and is
part of ongoing work to improve the school grounds.
The youngsters did not take long
to get involved
in the experience - and enjoy themselves into the bargain.
