Stranraer FC Score a Double

STRANRAER FC toasted a memorable double last week when they received both the manager and player of the month awards from league sponsors Bell's.

Top scorer Michael Moore was rewarded for his amazing feat of scoring four goals in a single match - for the second time this season.

And manager Neil Watt was recognised for taking the club clear in second position with three wins from four games. It was the second such award for Watt in three months and he joked:

"I'm going to have to start buying some books because if you sit these awards back to back on a shelf then they look like book ends".

But he was quick to praise his players saying:

"This is more of a team award than an individual's award - it's the 11 men on the park who do the business".

Moore, who has hit the net 21 times for the Blues this season, scored four goals in the 6-0 demolition of Elgin City on the 24th January. It was his first ever player of the month award and he said:

"It's been a pretty good month after the bad start we made against Gretna.

"I'd like to think it shows the progression I have made over the past year".
