Hen Coupe!
WHEN LOCHANS hen breeder Brian Sadler lost one of his
top performing birds
last weekend he got himself in a right flap.
But when he
discovered it two days later under the bonnet of his wagon
he
knew exactly what had gone wrong. The bird-brained hen
had confused its coop with a coupe!
Retired Brian, of Craigenquarroch
Keeper's Cottage,
Lochans, was "mystified"
by the discovery last Monday.
He said:
"I had driven to my friend's house on
the Saturday and, later on as I prepared to come back
home, I noticed the hen was by the side of the van -
I didn't
know how she got there.
"I decided to leave
her overnight and when I went back the next day she
ran under the van and vanished.
"It wasn't until the Monday
that I discovered that she had been hiding under
the bonnet - and had lain two eggs!"
Brian, who
keeps 35 hens and four geese at his home has taken to
calling his bold bird "The Wanderer".
Well it certainly ruffled a few feathers on its latest
expedition.
