Stranraer Academy Phase 2 Doubt
COUNCIL Director of Education and Community Services,
Fraser Sanderson could
not "say with any confidence," that Stranraer
Academy's phase two will start
on July 4th as originally planned, councillors heard last
week.
At last Wednesday's Wigtown West Area Committee
meeting in Stranraer,
Councillor Grahame Forster told fellow committee members
that an e-mail he
received from Mr Sanderson in December confirmed this.
The message from Mr Sanderson read:
"While we still
have July set as the
proposed start date, if you pushed me into a corner
on this I could not say
with any confidence that we would see movement by then."
Further
to this, Mr Sanderson also seemed to indicate that, of
all the
schools PPP projects in the pipeline within the region,
highlighting
Lockerbie Academy and Lockerbie Primary schools in particular,
Stranraer
Academy was not the number one priority.
The e-mail message to Mr Forster stated:
"With regard
to the question about
the level of priority to be attached to Lockerbie Academy
and Stranraer
Academy, I would have to say that absolute priority should
rest with
Lockerbie Primary School."
