Portpatrick Tsunami Disaster Appeal
A PORTPATRICK Tsunami Disaster Appeal was launched by
the village's residents
on Tuesday night.
Eighteen locals turned out at the home
of Bill Gosson on Tuesday night to
discuss future fundraising events for victims of the
Asian disaster.
First will be a table sale in the village hall
on Saturday 15th January,
between 11 am and 4 pm, with an auction planned soon
afterwards.
The sale will include ornaments, bric-a-brac
and a bottle stall, a£
100-prize raffle, as well as tea, coffee and home baking.
No expenses would
be deducted from the fund.
Mr Gosson said:
"This is a disaster on a momentous
scale and it is still
growing, so the quicker we respond to it the better".
Another
local said:
"We are a small tourist village that relies
on tourism,
so there is a lot we have in common with them".
A further
meeting has been called for Monday night at the village
hall at 8
pm to finalise the details of Saturday's fundraising
day.
