Abnormal Load Alert
A NUMBER of abnormal loads will be travelling under police
escort on roads
between Cairnryan and Artfield Fell, New Luce as turbine
blades are being
carried to the windfarm there from now until the end of
April.
Affected routes are A77 from Cairnryan to Innermessan;
A751 at Innermessan
to the A75 junction; A75 to Dunragit, C52, Dunragit Station
Road; B7084
road to A75 at Whitecrook; A75 to C22, Three Lochs Road;
C22 to C3; C3 to
U89 and U89 to Artfield Fell.
These loads are expected to
cause disruption and delays to traffic on major
routes between 7 am and 9 am on most days. Minor routes
will also be
affected after 9 am on days when loads are being transported.
Although
movement times have been planned to cause minimum disruption
police
will monitor the situation and may halt loads a suitable
locations to clear
traffic.
Police are asking motorists to allow extra time
for journeys in affected
areas, to be patient and aware that vehicles moving these
loads will need
most of the road to manoeuvre

The
blades, made in Denmark, are being shipped to Ayr and
loaded into
lorries for the journey south to Artfield Fell.
