Waterfront Findings to be Presented
SCOTTISH Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway, in partnership
with Dumfries and
Galloway Council will be presenting the initial findings
of the Stranraer
Waterfront Development Framework with a series of public
consultations.
The two week consultation process will begin
on Monday and will inform
stakeholders and members of the public of the potential
options for
development on the Waterfront site.
Consultation began in
October with the appointment of The MacKenzie
Partnership and since then the independent property and
consultation
specialists have undertaken extensive consultations with
stakeholders,
landowners as well as a wider public consultation.
Based
on this information, the results of extensive reviews and
feasibility
studies and their wealth of waterfront redevelopment experience,
MacKenzie
Partnership have produced a draft strategic development
framework.
This sets out the "vision" for Stranraer
and Lochryan and highlights a
number of projects and activities necessary to underpin
and realise its
objectives. It builds upon the natural resource of the
loch and aims to
diversify the area's economy, in order to maximise
new opportunities and
enhance sustainability.
